Accessible Chair Yoga fosters strength, peace, and well-being through mindful movement and breath.
Chair Yoga classes at the Anderson Public Library are accessible for every body. Classes are chair-assisted, which means that a sturdy chair is beside you during movements and poses and also that some movements are done while you sit on the chair. The emphasis in each class is on stretching, joint movements, balance, mindfulness, and healthy breathing. The goal is for participants to feel a sense of inner strength and peace when they leave. A large body of scientific research has established that practicing yoga regularly is associated with improved balance, clearer thinking, and higher rates of contentment. The instructor, Glenda Conway, holds a 200-hour yoga teaching certification from Lexington Healing Arts Academy.
There will be one waiver for you to sign before you begin the class and we will ask for your emergency contact information--just in case.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle and yoga mat. There will be a few yoga mats available at the library.
Anderson Public Library is located in the heart of Lawrenceburg Kentucky on Main Street. The library has 2 meeting rooms that can be combined into 1 large room, 2 study rooms, a history room, and a makerspace lab.
