Step onto the mat and discover the perfect introduction to yoga in this gentle, beginner-friendly class.
This hour-long class will introduce participants to the basics of yoga and the health benefits of a gentle self-care practice. A registered yoga teacher will guide the class through a planned sequence of movements that link the breath with stretching, strengthening, and balancing poses. Each class may include reclined, seated, kneeling, and standing postures. All participants should have the strength and mobility to get down onto the floor and back to standing.
The practice of breath awareness can sharpen mental clarity and focus, calm the nervous system, and relax the body. The slow, flowing movements of yoga can enhance strength, stability, resilience, and balance. A regular yoga practice can be a valuable tool to develop and improve personal health and wellness.
Wear comfortable clothes; bring a yoga mat (if you have one), a bath/beach towel, and water bottle.
Waivers: We have two waivers for you to sign--one for the Library, and one for your yoga instructor, and we ask for emergency contact information--just in case. Please read over the yoga instructor's liability waiver at this link and email the instructor if you have any questions or concerns. We also ask you to sign in each week. By doing so, you are agreeing to both waivers for each class.
