Accessible Chair Yoga fosters strength, peace, and well-being through mindful movement and breath.
Chair Yoga classes at the Anderson Public Library are accessible for every body.
Classes are chair-assisted, which means that some movements are done while you sit on the chair and some movements and poses are done with a sturdy chair is beside you. The emphasis in each class is on stretching, joint movements, balance, mindfulness, and healthy breathing. The goal is for participants to feel a sense of inner strength and peace when they leave.
A large body of scientific research has established that practicing yoga regularly is associated with improved balance, clearer thinking, and higher rates of contentment.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle and yoga mat. A few yoga mats available at the library.
Waiver: There will be one waiver for you to sign before you begin the class and we will ask for your emergency contact information--just in case.
More about the Instructor: Glenda Conway, holds a 200-hour yoga teaching certification from Lexington Healing Arts Academy.
