Design a Shadow Box in memory of a deceased loved one.
Celebrate the spirit of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) by creating a personalized shadow box altar to honor the memory of a loved one who has passed.
In the Día de los Muertos tradition, families build ofrendas—altars decorated with photos, candles, marigolds, food, and personal items—to welcome the spirits of their ancestors back for a joyful visit. These altars are both a tribute and a celebration of life, filled with color, love, and remembrance.
For this craft, you’ll create a miniature version of an ofrenda using a shadow box, turning it into a meaningful keepsake. We’ll provide a variety of craft materials—including tissue paper marigolds, traditional decorations, and embellishments—to help you design a vibrant and heartfelt display.
You are encouraged to bring your own photos or small mementos that represent your loved one to make your shadow box truly personal.
Let’s gather in remembrance and creativity to celebrate the lives that continue to live on in our hearts.
